Ceramic Factories. Solutions for Flue Gas Cleaning

During ceramic production, pollutants are released during the firing and drying stages, when toxic substances from solvents and paints vaporize. These, combined with contaminants from the fuel, produce fumes that are harmful to the environment and health, rich in fluorides and sulfur oxides (SOx). An effective solution to reduce their impact is the use of dry scrubbing, which reduces harmful emissions by injecting a neutralizing powder before a bag filter.

Ceramic Factory Pollutant Abatement

FAQ

The emission of pollutants in the production cycle of Ceramic Factories occurs during the firing and drying process of the finished pieces. After being painted, ceramics enter a kiln whose temperatures vaporize some toxic elements present in solvents, paint, or other additives which, in addition to pollutants resulting from the fuel, generate exhaust fumes highly harmful to the environment and hazardous to human health, and therefore must be purified before being emitted. These fumes are particularly harmful due to the high amount of fluorides present, along with sulfur oxides (SOx). Both acidic pollutants require the injection of an alkaline substance for the neutralization of the fumes and the subsequent reduction of pollutants. The simplest solution consists of a dry scrub, that is, the injection of the neutralizing compound in the form of a fine powder upstream of a bag filter.
During the firing process of ceramics, several pollutants are produced, including sulfur oxides (SOx) that result from the use of fuel, and fluorides, carcinogenic substances that volatilize with the drying of paints and solvents.
