During oil thermal combustion, in addition to the aforementioned sulfur oxides and acids, heavy metals and fine particles may be emitted, stemming from additives and pollutants present in the waste oil. These components require specialized treatment to ensure clean air and environmental protection.
Oil thermal combustion can produce fumes with high concentrations of acids such as HCl and SOx, in addition to heavy metals like lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd). These components are highly pollutive and harmful to the environment. The use of technical grade sodium bicarbonate allows for the neutralization of these acids, transforming them into non-hazardous salts. Activated carbon/lignite coke, on the other hand, ensures the elimination of heavy metals and other harmful substances.
Sodium bicarbonate reacts with the acids generated in oil combustion, such as HCl and SOx. This chemical reaction produces safe solid salts, like sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, significantly reducing the acidity of the exhaust gases. Sodium bicarbonate is essential for an effective and versatile treatment of acid fumes.
