Hydrated Lime or Sorbacal® and Active Carbon or Lignite Coke for Pharmaceutical Waste to Energy Incineration Plant
In the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, treating waste, such as drug blister packs, poses a major challenge. Composed of complex materials such as plastic, aluminum, and protective layers, blister packs are difficult to recycle using traditional mechanical methods. Therefore, they are often incinerated or incinerated. During combustion, however, they generate fumes containing pollutants such as sulfur oxides (SOx), hydrochloric acid (HCl), hydrofluoric acid (HF), and heavy metals (e.g., lead, cadmium, and mercury), which pose a serious risk to the environment and health. To reduce the impact of these emissions, advanced flue gas purification systems are required. An effective solution is based on the combined use of hydrated lime and activated carbon or lignite coke.
Solution with Hydrated Lime or Sorbacal® plus Active Carbon or Lignite Coke
Hydrated lime and Sorbacal® are used to neutralize acids in flue gases, transforming them into harmless solid salts, while activated carbon and lignite coke, thanks to their remarkable capacity to adsorb heavy metals and volatile organic compounds, effectively reduce toxic emissions, completing the purification process.
The treatment process involves the use of two separate dosers, calibrated to ensure the correct dosage of both hydrated lime or Sorbacal® and activated carbon or lignite coke.
